What you get
The medium puzzle book is 19 puzzle pages, plus a lesson plan, an answer key and a Certificate of Completion. It is one US Letter PDF, ready to print.
Inside: four challenge mazes, three word searches, three logic grids, a sequence puzzle, an odd one out page, a number pyramid, two riddle sets, a spot the difference, a hidden picture and two crosswords.
Why the pages feel different
The easy book asks a child to follow one idea. The medium book asks them to hold two or three at once. A logic grid is the clearest example: three children, three colours, and three clues that have to be crossed off one at a time. Nothing about that is hard. It just has to be done slowly.
Is your child ready?
A good sign is that mazes are finished without much finger tracing, and word searches are found in under a minute. Another sign is that your child starts explaining their answers. Once a child narrates their thinking, harder pages are welcome instead of scary.
How to help without solving

Puzzles & Games: Medium
19 challenge pages: mazes, logic grids, word searches and crosswords.
View printableAsk questions rather than give answers. "Which clue do we know for sure?" and "What does that rule out?" carry a child through almost any page. Keep the answer key for yourself. Checking at the end is fine, but working backwards from the answers teaches nothing.
Pacing that works
One page, one sitting. Do the puzzle pages in any order your child likes, then finish with the certificate at the end of the week. Two short sessions a week is more useful than one long one.
For classrooms
The lesson plan suggests a way to run a puzzle session with a group, including how to pair children so one is not left waiting. Print one answer key for the table and keep the rest for yourself.
When the challenge mazes stop taking effort, the hard book offers ciphers and sudoku-style grids.
